Brentford Review & Ratings

For 25 minutes, playing towards the East End, where those fans make such a difference, we looked better than most games this season and should have been at least two, if not three up.

For the next 50 minutes we went well off the boil and Brentford came back into it.The midfield went missing for part of the game and consequently we gave the ball away.

At three nil up that wouldn't have been a problem.........but we weren't and we damn nearly blew it.

Brentford gave us a chance from the start by playing higher up the pitch leaving lots of grass behind them and we exploited that.

Goodfellow, Miller and Wilkshire. should have put us out of sight......but we weren't.

It sounds churlish to criticise a 3-1 win, our 8th on the trot, but if we don't start killing sides off, we'll pay for it against better teams. Those little defensive blips that go unpunished at this level, won't in Div 1.

Oh and what the hell was that linesman doing?? She seemed to be applying the new ruling backwards!!

Phillips 7/10 Punched in the first half when he should have caught, then it was hearts in our mouths time as he lay injured and no Stowell on the bench, but mostly good enough.

Carey 6/10 Could have done better with Brentfords goal and didn't contribute much going forward.

Woodman 5/10 Struggled throughout and wouldn't be in my 16 next week.Being dropped by DW sems to have hit his confidence.

Coles 7/10 Distribution again prevents an 8.Defended well, as usual and that's the most important but like a lot of others will need to sharpen up if we are promoted.

Hill 7/10 Goal moves him up from a 6, then read Coles!

Goodfellow 5/10 Missed a good chance to put the game beyone Brentford and looked heavy legged throughout.Worst game I've seen him have and no surprise when subbed.

Wilkshire 6/10 Bit different from playing against Papua New Guinea or the Solomon Islands Under 23's and highlights the #### standard of the qualifying stages for that part of the world.Got better as the game dragged on, but needs to sharpen up a yard.

Tinnion 6/10 The old Diagonal pass to the right wing is lacking it's normal zip but BR always try's to get it down and pass it.

Brown 8/10 Great cross for Millers goal with and pace & power.Should be doing on the left what Murray did on the right last year. The ability's there but the consistency isn't.

Miller 6/10 Good finish from a perfect cross, but faded as the game went on and his lack of pace for a young man is worrying. The upper body strength he lacks will increase with age but he nees to work on his pace for that first five yards to get clear of chasing defenders.

Peacock 6/10 Worked hard and a threat. but not as good as lately.

Subs:

Fortune 7/10 Vital impact on this game and I'd keep him in next week.

Lita 7/10 Brentford must hate the sight of the bloke, another crisp finish.

Roberts 6/10 Livened things up and whilst another frustrating player, set up Litas goal.
