This response will hopefully answer all 4 questions on the East End

The management and control of the East End was excellent and the vast majority of fans responded well and created a superb atmosphere. However, there were a number of potentially serious safety issues which will almost certainly mean increasing the number of stewards for the next game. We only ever eject as a last resort, because the reality of identifying and then even ejecting one person often requires a correspondingly large number of trained stewards. With the number of stewards we deployed in the East End last Saturday, containment was the only practical or sensible solution. These numbers are now being reviewed.

However, the QPR, Plymouth and Brighton matches will be a very different scenario with the away team likely to bring a minimum of 2,000 fans. We are currently discussing this with our Safety Officer, Police and Local Authorities to decide the best way forward. This group includes a vast amount of experience and expertise learnt over a number of years and I am sure the right decision will be made.

This information will of course be published in due course, but in the meantime lets continue to create atmosphere, act sensibly and help route out those few intent on trouble.

Colin.

The repley to tommycidered post on the East End by Steve!

He says that 'However, there were a number of potentially serious safety issues which will almost certainly mean increasing the number of stewards for the next game.'
