Godzilla Posted February 18, 2004 Share Posted February 18, 2004 Phillips - 7 - Kicking suspect once or twice, no chance with the penalty, and otherwise sound. Carey - 6 - Average. Defended ok, but seems to lack ideas when in the final third supporting Wilkshire/Goodfellow. Butler - 7 - Did ok... Won plenty in the air and looked comfortable. Maybe should've had a penalty given against him though. Coles - 7 - Again, did ok. Won plenty in the air and looked comfortable at the back. Hill - 7 - Did well. Made a fantastic saving tackle that led to the penalty, a decision I still can't believe, and defended well. Wilkshire - 7/8 - Did well. Offered us a different option down the right flank, always willing to cut inside and caused Grimsby lots of problems. Passed well, and got into some good situations. Doherty - 8 - Excellent performance. Battled well, and used the ball to good effect. In the form of his life at the moment. Tinnion - 7 - Passing a little wayward at times, but ran his socks off and got stuck in. Did ok, but lost some of the form he was producing earlier in the season. Brown - 6 - In the first half his corners were fantastic, including one put on a plate for Lee Miller. In the 2nd half, his corners, and general delivery was abysmal. He still looks half asleep most of the time. Scored a well taken winner, but can't give him more than a 6. Miller - 8 - Excellent. A constant threat and always involved. Good first touch and linked the play well. Almost scored a fantastic goal with an wonderful chip that struck the bar. Peacock - 7 - Worked his socks off, but not as involved as Miller. Did well though. Subs: Woodman - 7 - Looked calm and collected on the ball, and did a decent job supporting Brown down the left. Goodfellow - 6 - Running and pace good, delivery not so good. Lita - 6 - Ineffective. Allthough he played a part in the goal (miss hitting an overhead kick, anyway!) I felt bringing him on for the lively Miller was a mistake. One more thing... They shouldn't have had a penalty after seeing it on Sky several times and our last goal was rather s####py, but Lita's unusual dummy worked. The game was s####py, poorly refereed at times, nerve wracking, entertaining..........all those things and more. The atmosphere down our end was fantastic and it was great to see the players reacting so passionately to their achievement. COME ON YOU REDS!
