A Unique social inclusion project organized by Bristol City's Football in the community scheme has been awarded a massive $132,283 grant from the Football Foundation.

The Opportunity Network scheme provides a ccomprehensive programme of football coaching, personal development programmes and educational development initiatives through a network of nine primary schools, one secondary school, out of school clubs and neighbourhood centres in the Southemead and Henbury districts of the city.

The scheme hopes to reduce cime, anti-social behaviour and drug abuse throught raising educational attainment, self esteem and community awareness. In addition the scheme hopes to address the lack of awareness and sensitivity towards other cultures and ethnic minorities which is perceived to exist in these prefominantly white areas.

Peter Lee, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: "This superb scheme will soon be offering young people in the city a way out of crime, durg abuse and introducing them into education and employment. Bristol City deserver immense credit for offering something back to their community.

"Football is unique in it s ability to motivate and to educate and I am delighted the power of the game is being harnessed in this posistive way to benefit the city. "
