Guest red in the usa
21+ points should, on past seasons' evidence, see us promoted. (85 points plus). I'll worry about the championship when (not if) we are mathematically up. That is only 7 wins with...14 games to go...I do believe my ridiculous smile may get even wider. Busily counting my chickens... I wonder on plans for Div 1...looking at Cardiff's/Wigan's side... can anyone tell me how many additions they have made since promotion...not that I like either of them but have to admit it is fairly impressive (and encouraging for us) where they are in Div 1 currently. I imagine we would have 4 or 5 new additions: goalkeeping cover 1 defender 1 striker 1 or 2 midfielders Unusually, I just can't see us blowing it. Scary thought isn't it... bcfc seattle
It might take more this year to finish in top 2. with 3 teams chasing it.
fct
88 points should be enough. That's 8 more wins from 14.
Private Cider(cider army)
Based on results so far and recent form the kind people at Sportia.co.uk predict that City will be Div 2 champions! with 94 points 1 Bristol City 46 18 4 1 44 12 8 12 3 30 24 38 94 2 Plymouth Argyle 46 18 4 1 58 13 7 10 6 34 29 50 89 3 Swindon Town 46 15 5 3 49 23 9 8 6 34 34 26 85 4 Queens Park Rangers 46 17 6 0 51 14 5 10 8 27 32 32 82 5 Luton Town 46 16 5 2 45 22 4 14 5 28 35 16 79 6 Brighton & Hove Alb 46 18 3 2 44 13 4 7 12 24 35 20 76 7 Port Vale 46 15 6 2 49 31 6 7 10 31 37 12 76 8 Hartlepool United 46 10 11 2 34 16 8 6 9 34 38 14 71 9 AFC Bournemouth 46 15 6 2 33 18 3 10 10 18 29 4 70 10 Barnsley 46 8 14 1 31 20 7 6 10 25 31 5 65 11 Wrexham 46 8 8 7 26 20 10 3 10 28 30 4 65 12 Sheffield Wednesday 46 8 11 4 26 21 7 8 8 28 34 -1 64 13 Tranmere Rovers 46 13 8 2 37 18 1 11 11 19 39 -1 61 14 Colchester United 46 12 9 2 33 22 4 3 16 14 35 -10 60 15 Blackpool 46 10 6 7 31 26 5 7 11 24 37 -8 58 16 Oldham Athletic 46 12 6 5 36 21 1 11 11 24 40 -1 56 17 Rushden and Diamonds 46 11 8 4 45 31 4 3 16 25 44 -5 56 18 Brentford 46 11 5 7 35 34 3 4 16 17 39 -21 51 19 Chesterfield 46 10 9 4 40 28 2 4 17 11 45 -22 49 20 Grimsby Town 46 7 8 8 32 28 3 5 15 18 62 -40 43 21 Notts County 46 6 9 8 33 30 3 3 17 20 49 -26 39 22 Peterborough United 46 2 9 12 28 36 4 6 13 20 35 -23 33 23 Stockport County 46 3 8 12 30 42 3 7 13 28 44 -28 33 24 Wycombe Wanderers 46 4 6 13 29 38 0 9 14 16 42 -35
Guest red in the usa
Thanks, I've never heard of Sportia's site... Interesting, according to their prediction we will remain unbeaten until the end of the season ! With our defence the heroes so far, that is not something out of the realms of possibility. Wednesday 0 City 2...and then we come to our usual banana skin, Wycombe. Hmmm, I wonder if the winning run will flounder against the bottom team, that would be an irony. cheshire_red
8 wins, 5 draws and 2 defeats will see us there. The draws can come from all the top sides we have left to play as far as I'm concerned, just ensure we don't lose to Plymouth, QPR, Barnsley, Brighton and the Swine and we are up. brady bunch
interesting! I also think it will take more points this year to get promoted with the four current top sides like to win alot more games in the run in. you have to look at least plus 90 points this year me thinks. I also think it will take more points this year to get promoted with the four current top sides like to win alot more games in the run in. you have to look at least plus 90 points this year me thinks. Last year Crewe's 86 points was deemed enough and their tally after 32 games would see them top on goal difference right now. I think we're looking at a similar target this season though collecting 2 points a game (equivalent of 7 wins, 7 draws or win @ home, draw away) would see us trough to 92. Guest red in the usa
I agree with Madger, especially as a number of the top sides play each other, inevitably there will be points lost for several teams, and I remember several slip-ups and bad runs in the last two seasons...the only team that didn't were Wigan who got to 100 points, I think. Something like 6/7 wins and a bunch of draws will do it...obviously I'd like us to win more...point being 3 or 4 more wins (Stockport, Wycombe, Oldham) prior to the tougher games in April will set us up before the top of the table melee. Then draws against Plymouth, QPR would be enough... Can't help but feel optimistic...in 26 years o of supporting City this is right up there in excitement terms !!!!! brady bunch
Madger makes a good point, but away from home I can see us actually losing 4, drawing 2 and winning 1 (Stockport, Luton are the only ones were I am confident) = 5 points At home I think we will win 4 home games with two draws and a loss = 14 points so 19 more points to the 64 we have, giving a total of 83 points. short of Madgers target. help I should not of worked that out, I am getting depressed! The boys keep proving me wrong, long may it continue!

City Exile
As to whether 21 points is right, sense it will depend on QPRs form. Another way of looking at it, is that every point dropped over the next 7 games, needs to be recovered in the last 7. So when the players are a bit tired and drawing with Wycombe with 15 mins to go, they need to ask themselves, will the 2 points still up for graps here be easier to get now, or against Plymiff etc later on? Still a long long way to go, and we have seen how a large lead can disappear. But right now, I would not swop places with any other team. There seems to be a determination in this side they are going to do it. Long may in continue. If we avoid draws, 8 wins and 6 defeats might very well do it. Can anyone not see us doing that? fct
The whole crux is confidence. Earlier this season we were not playing with confidence and failing to beat teams like Peterboro, Hartlepool, Colchester and Chesterfraud. Now confidence is high, these same teams have been beaten playing them second time around. The same applies to the other teams; if city play QPR a lot depends on both sides' confidence. If a team believes it will win and their opponents don't, generally the confident team will win. The test will come after City lose their next game, wherever that will be. Sheffield have won three games recently so confidence will be on the up. Get past sheffield intact then I can see City winning their next three. It all comes down to the Tranmere match, doesn't it? Win that one and I think it'll be promotion. Lose it and the whole thing is in the melting pot.
Guest BridgyRed
Remember if we take points from Plymouth and QPr that reduces their potential points as well
