RedTop
Oldham have been forced to cut short striker Wes Wilkinson's loan spell at Boundary Park. Apparently, under FA rules, a Football League club cannot take a player on loan from a club below UniBond League level. Oldham had agreed to offer Wilkinson a one-month loan deal following a trial, but it's been banned because he's is registered with North-West Counties League side Nantwich Town. Doesn't that strike you as a weird rule? What's the point of stopping a lad who wants to try to break into league football? Of course, the fact they're trying to sign Nantwich's players may also be a sign of how dire things are financially up at poor old Oldham at the moment. CTRed
OR he might be a genuinely good prospect for Oldham Athletic.
RedTop
OR he might be a genuinely good prospect for Oldham Athletic. Accepted. Either way, can there be any reasonable justification for blocking such a move? A loan sounds reasonable to assess whether he's worth signing, especially in these days where the powers that be should be encouraging clubs not to shell out more money than they can afford. CTRed
Yeah- seems like another pointless FA rule by one of the old 'Jobsworth's' at Soho Square - ridiculous.
