Admin Maesknoll Red Posted February 29, 2004 Admin Share Posted February 29, 2004 If yesterdays Torygraph Sports section is to be believed: "Coca-Cola must have been pleased to hear the league are to rebrand the First Division next season, to give the impression it is a seperate league, with a new name. Stewart Regan, the new Chief Executive who takes charge of the Football League from tomorrow, will make the rebranding of the First Division one of his priorities. The First Division will also get most of the money from the new sponsorship deal - nearly 60% - with the rest shered between the Second and Third Divisions." So £9m for Division One and £6m to be shared out between Two and Three, this will only widen the gap, in a similar manner to the gap between the First and the Premiership. This news surely makes achieving promotion this season a must.
22A
Agree with you 100%. Plus of course more opportunity to be on TV with the increased revenue that brings! Direct entry to FA Cup 3rd round, no trips to non league grounds or clubs in our own div to share a gate of just a few thou. No LDV which in the early rounds in some instances costs more to pay the ground staff, police, electric bill etc than possibly is raised through gate money. This sponsorship money will divide this way. £9 million between 24 clubs = £375,000 each £6 million between 48 clubs = £125,000 each
