Evening sheeds.

I know we haven't all seen eye to eye the last couple of weeks but if any of you read the story of Jamie Cooper on the front of todays evening post then you will relise there are more important things in life. Jamie is a life long gashead who served for our country in Iraq, this is not a war i agree with but whole heatedly support our boys and girls over there. Jamie who is 18 is the youngest army personel to be injured in a Iraq after a mortar outside his hotel in Basra. On returning home (after being revived on the plane) Jamie caught MRSA not once but twice. Jamie is a life long gashead and is aiming to be fit enough to make it to Cardiff. We're lobbying the board to make sure Jamie is treated like a hero in one of the VIP suites at the Millenium Stadium.

If you are signed up to the Rovers forum please could you take two minutes to add you name to following thread to make damn sure this happens.

As I couldn't get on to your forum, I'm not sure what you are seeking for this poor guy. If it's some dosh to pay for a VIP day out in the Tinpot final I guess there would be plenty on here who would be happy to chip in. (As long as any surplus goes towards a good cause and NOT towards buying decent players. We need to keep you where you belong!!)

Messa.

As an old guy, having witnessed many battles over the years between the red and blue of Bristol.

Would you please add my name: - Bigdave60

At times like this, we should rise above our tribal instincts.

I know you've already been successful and I'm not registered on the Rovers' forum but please could you add the username to the list that I'm better known as i.e. Red Goblin. I want to show my respect for the brave lad. Thanks in advance.

I too am not a member of your forum but please add my name as well - hope its a great day out for him.

On an historical military note, Colonel Thomas Rainsborough - an English Republican officer and Leveller leader - was a hero during the liberation of Bristol from the Royalists in September 1645 and the great man was assassinated at Doncaster by Royalists during October 1648. I wanted us to beat Doncaster in the paint pot final for that reason. So now - for the first time in my life - I hope the Gas are victorious by beating Doncaster as - argghhhh it hurts - the Gas are now Bristol's representatives in that final. :farmer:

Chief, man, I shouldn't encourage you but this post does actually have relevant justifications and is not just another case of the Goblin 'going large on one' again. (although it kinda is really)

Peace out bruv and do teach the junior Goblin that autonomy is the way, as we discussed. (I fear for that kid!)

Crack I up you does.

We've actually started a new community initiative this week called 'Rovers Against Royalty'. We're looking to stamp out any traces of our crown wearing German in Bristol.

Well done to all you reds who have supported my dirty hippy friend's campaign. He can be useful at times and this is one of them. Jamie will be proud of you and us all.

Nice one. :worship2:

Now go to Cardiff and win the Paint Pot Cup for Jamie and in the memory of Bristol's liberating hero of course - Colonel Thomas Rainsborough - one of the least known - these days - but one of the most eminent men to have ever walked Bristol's streets.

Up the City

Quotations from the Putney Debates July 1647......

Colonel Thomas Rainsborough, for the Levellers:-

For really I think that the poorest he that is in England have a life to live, as the greatest he: and therefore truly, sir, I think it's clear, that every man that is to live under a government ought first by his own consent to put himself under that government.

Henry Ireton, for the 'Grandees' in reply:-

no man hath a right to an interest or share in the disposing of the affairs of the kingdom... that hath not a permanent fixed interest in this kingdom.

(quotations from E. P. Thompson's The Making of the English Working Class)

I find your posts on here so informative and interesting. You really are a fountain of knowledge! (And I'm not taking the Michael)

Keep it up! :clapping:
