My bro is flying in from Anguilla to see the City promoted. Now, he comes home about once a year but this is not a scheduled visit so that, in my book, is pretty dedicated stuff.

The distance into Bristol Airport, if he could fly like a crow, would be 3,974.89 miles one way. However, he has to go via Newark which is a lot more obviously.

But, for the sake of this little bit of fun we shall leave it as the direct crow flies distance.

Is there any expat out there that can top that? If so, he/she deserves a medal.

Come on u redddssssssssssssssss.

there is no cup for coming.... :winner_third_h4h:

Anguilla is further away and a flight costs more, but several city supporters sat in a coach to get to our last game for about the same length of time it takes to fly from the West Indies

Megan's Dad; you seem to be on course for being crowned! My bro is coming via new York as it happens.. then cab over to Newark for flight to Brizzle. I think he flies in day before!

Afghanistan man; ditto the respect comment. And same to all others around the world who can or cannot make it but will be flying the flag. There are a lot of us around. :englandflag:

p.s. delighted with the Liverpool win tonight. I went severely off Chelski when Robben dived in the box as he usually does... I had the broadest of grins when he missed his penalty! priceless.

Thoroughly dejected, been ill for nearly four months. Keep rebooking my flight from Sydney, but as at today my doctor and surgeon have cancelled any travel in the near future. Even tried to work a 3 hop trip with overnight stopovers.

don't get old and sick, its the final curtain . From an old paratrooper, well done to Sparkeyboy 72 and the other Bristol City lads in Afghanistan, you have my love and respect.

I'll let him answer for himself but lets just say "one team in keynsham" isnt in Keynsham, and hes coming over for the game.

Presently mid way between Grand Cayman and Heathrow in fact, at about 12000 meters.

His ticket is in the same vicinity, though unfortunately traveling in the opposite direction.

Some rather desparate negotiations underway with the powers that be in the ticket office...

I'm walking down the hill from Clifton. (the short cut)

Ok, that's a strong contender. Let's measure it from closing your front door to walking into the the ground premises. How many minutes?

Am I counting all the stairs I have to walk down to get out of my flat? And the 2 hour diversion to the Nova Scotia?

I'm in New Zealand unfortunately having went to the world cup last year, my wife would'nt be to happy if I was to swan off to Britain again this year on my own, as much as I'd love to.

I'm going to have to listen to the commentry over the net and I am pretty confident City will turn it on and win 3-0 come Saturday.

I'm coming all the way from Wimbledon.

Massive effort - that's the A3 and M25 all in one day see.

And my "local" team could be Chelsea, but they can't take penalties though :disapointed2se:

Round trip, as the crow flies, Cayman to Heathrow is 9,580 miles. Add a couple of hundred getting to Bristol, and little change out of 10,000. Anybody top that yet?

Edit: just saw megansdad's post. I'll settle for silver.

Anytime spent on the M25 has got to be worth 5,000 miles in my opinion....

But seeing as you are also going on the M25 you've done me for miles.

Good try but it's not a patch on Peter Carroll

I'm not coming for the match from Chicago, however its 50/50 that I come over the awards on Tuesday...Dad is in the mix for fan of the year...and I might not be able to resist the temptation to kiss Gary Johnson (no tongues) at the promotion party.

Keep Smiling everyone only three days to go :englandsmile4wf:

Hmm... North Lincs Red driving from Scunny, me from P'boro' and (presumably) Cider 11 from Huntingdon plus those travelling from Lunnon & the Home Counties. Will we see a convoy of cars flying red & white scarves & flags on the M4 Satdee morning? :city:

Who's running a sweepstake on the number of City shirts at Membury Services between 11.00am & noon?

Just got the heads up from the coach co-ordinator at Bakers Dolphin for that trip. This version is in English but can be supplied in Polish if required. We appreciate you can't read Polish but that's hardly our problem sunshine, is it??

Membury-Bristol City FC

Leave Membury and travel towards London leaving the M4 at Chiswick.

Turn onto the North Circular and head North signposted A1 The North.

Carry on for appx 400 Miles and you'll see signs for Scotland & Newcastle.......either that or you'll be in the see, either way we ain't bovvered.

At this point-PANIC.

Ask where Bristol is

Find out the Newcastle Airport is your best bet with Easyjet

Fly from Newcastle to Cardiff-Well it's to simple to fly to Bristol and you save a quid going to Cardiff and the bridge is free coming out of Wales.

From Cardiff follow signs to Swansea where you can catch a ferry around the coast.

Arrive in France where you can watch the game on Algerian TV.

Please note:You will be required to leave Membury yesterday at 7pm and don't come blaming me and wanting your money back if it goes wrong because delays happen.

Remember Our Motto

WE'VE HAD YOUR MONEY NOW ***K OFF

Anybody know if the Wurzels have been contracted for pre match entertainment? that would be something.

Yes, something like three random old blokes pulled from the crowd wandering about the pitch like they've got Altziemers. :disapointed2se:

Also something highly unimaginative...........so that's it confirmed then :whistle2:

NTTDS is going to get the train from Bristol to Derby, where i shall pick him up from, then we are going to drive to East Midlands Airport, and fly to Prague, for a connecting flight to Singapore.

Then by ferry to Hong Kong, for another ocean going liner to Sydney, for a flight to Wellington, and another to Los Angeles.

Then by train to Chicago, then drive down to Miami, where we will swim through shark infested seas to Cuba, and after a cuba libre or 2, we will get a Fair Trade Banana boat to Cardiff for the relatively short drive to Bristol, parking up at Hotwells, and walking trough the park, to Ashton Gate!!.

I think it would make an interesting read to here how you finished up where you are, particularly if you started out in Bristol. If not and you started out abroad how did you start follwoing City.

Not compulsory, just an idea.

Grew up in Congresbury and Clevedon but summer lying on pebbles not really my thing unless u want pot marks on your back so upped and went to Dorset where they have sand.. warmer and kind on the skin but still not warm enough so upped and went to Cuba for the sun and... well u know all the rest of the stuff the place offers.. 8 years away and came back, largely, couple of years ago as I was missing quality third tier football. Missing the sun though and my protege Cuban City supporters who need some new City shirts who will be cheering on the team from afar.

A salsa band or cuban cheer leader girls at the pre-match for next season would be great heh? :sun:

Well, so far Megan's Dad seems to have the longest journey from Singapore via New York which is an odd route, My bro seems to be second, Anguilla and also via New York into Brizzle tomorrow morning.

Anybody from Easter Island? I think that would about top it. Look out for the Anguilla Flag in the Williams Stand on Saturday...

Union Flag in top left with the rest all navy blue and a crest with golden fishes....

I know my place NLR. Your journey is the absolute pits. Unless of course you were going to see fine attacking wing play from:

Ray Savino and Lou Peters

Alan Skirton and Danny Bartley

Mark Gavin and Dave Smith

Scott Murray and Aaron Brown

- no your journey is the absolute pits.
